Abstract: Despite the revival of Singapore cinema since Eric Khoo’s Mee Pok Man in 1995, action cinema has yet to take root as a mainstay of the local industry despite it being a feature of many Asian film industries, with societal expectations and contextual issues that Singaporeans face hindering the establishment of this genre. As the writer and director of the FYP thesis film, The Line is an investigation into the creation and implementation of a new approach towards creating an action film in the military genre within the Singaporean context. The Line is a thesis film about two soldiers who must make a choice that would affect the fate of a nation. Directed by Cheng Shian Wen, Produced by Wyna Yow, Cinematography by Ghazali Muzakir, Production design by Nigel Heng, Edited and composited by Syazali, and composed by Phuong Dao.
