Title: | SC6. | Authors: | Sng, Kai Lin. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Design::Product | Issue Date: | 2011 | Abstract: | My dad was having one of those sessions where he attempts to impart his knowledge and stories over the dinner table. Having worked for a number of network providing companies, he told me that the future generation will have to deal with electromagnetic pollution. Yet in the very next sentence, he said, “I want an ipad.” The following questions ensued: What contributes to electromagnetic pollution? If common transmission signals are actually pollutants, is their close proximity cause for concern? As electronics become our fifth limb, what exactly are we adopting as an indispensable part of our community? Everyone’s talking about carbon emissions and water, what about wireless emissions? This project aims to increase people’s awareness of wireless emissions around us and stimulate discussion through ambiguous and unsettling visual representation. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/43901 | Schools: | School of Art, Design and Media | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
