Abstract: This paper investigates whether media attention specifically in the form of CEO interviews affects abnormal returns and hence post earnings announcement drift (PEAD). We look at 222 samples of CEO interview and no CEO interview group. We observe a significant positive average cumulative abnormal return of 106 bps in the window of [-2, -1] relative to earnings announcement day when positive earnings surprise occurs for samples with CEO interviews.
