Issue Date: 2011
Abstract: XBLEND is a user interface to blend visual XML query formulation and process query in RDBMS. XBLEND has put large effort in reducing user waiting time (UWT), which refers to the duration between the times a user clicks the “RUN” icon to the time when he gets the answer. Which means the program will preprocess the query before user clicks the “RUN” icon. The time saving is involved in the query formulating process. In order to enhance the user friendliness and provide use with more convenience, we propose an idea in reducing user searching time in query formulating process by prescreening the content and highlight those query items, which have higher possibility to be involved in the query. By this approach, we are able to achieve an easier formulation of query and reduce time user used to search for query items.
