Abstract: The game of football is played throughout the world with an intense fervour and enthusiasm. This paper focused not on the social phenomena surrounding football but on the players who play the game for a living. It looks at how these players struggle to answer issues regarding their agency in a team based game. It proposes that the “stance” of a player allows him to “dovetail” his goals with that of the larger structure (that of his team). Thus we are able to understand the exact process which the player when he decide to take the jump and become a professional player in the first place.
