Abstract: The onset of the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) had brought down economies worldwide, that even the major powerhouse, the United States of America was tremendously affected. In this paper, we dwell into how a small, open economy such as Malaysia was affected by this global contagious effect, focusing on how economic policies are implemented by the local government to help weather itself out of the storm and its effectiveness, as well as drawing lessons learned from this crisis.
