Title: | "CIMED"(CIna MEDan = Medanese Chinese). | Authors: | Henry, Willis Turner. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Photography | Issue Date: | 2011 | Abstract: | This work is a series of self-portraits. It is a visual exploration of feeling on questioning identity addressing issues of nationality, belonging, and alienation. The story is incubated from a personal experience as a Chinese Indonesia from Medan. Visual language exploration has played a big role into the research of the project. The performative value in every picture is a manifestation of an idea of examining the fragment of experiences that is being recorded in a single moment. The role of photography here is not merely a record of action but unites with the performative act to enhance the perception of the idea. These pictures employ a soft look to achieve the lost-in-paradise feeling. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/44575 | Schools: | School of Art, Design and Media | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
