Abstract: Computers and software are playing important roles in modern music production. This has provided opportunities for a number of home based amateur producers to produce music by themselves even without those expensive studio equipments they cannot afford. What’s more, the fast-growing internet has made musicians from different parts of the world producing music collaboratively possible. There will be increasing demand for collaboration between musicians in future. However, most music production software is single-user application. Musicians who want to collaborate have to send their work back and forth which is not efficient. Therefore, developing a real-time online multi-user collaborative application will be a good idea and it is a new concept in the field of collaborative music production. As former achievements have been made to convert MS Word and PowerPoint to real-time collaborative applications without making modifications to original applications using technology called Transparent Adaption.
