Title: | Location identification using GPS coordinates | Authors: | Liang, Choon Yam. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Satellite telecommunication | Issue Date: | 2011 | Abstract: | Global Positioning System (GPS) technology has been widely integrated in many personal navigational products for our everyday life. Today, GPS systems are not only found in non-navigational products such as digital cameras, it is also integrated into the mobile phones. This project involves the study and web application development built on an apache server using PHP coding and MySQL database. This report will illustrate the idea, process and difficulty faced during the duration of completing the project titled “Location Identification Using GPS Coordinates”. The fundamental target of the project was to return a location name instead of the usual map view after input of the GPS coordinates. The project is done in few phases. Firstly, decision on the server and database used to host the web application page and the programming language to use. Secondly, use a web photo album to extract the GPS coordinates from the photos. Thirdly, return the nearest location name with the GPS coordinates stored in database. Lastly, the location name of the photo will be stored back into the photo IPTC properties. The report describes the process of work done to achieve the objective of the project. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/45007 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
