dc.description.abstractResearch experience over 24 weeks of final year project was presented in this report. One project was recorded in this report including deposition of pure carbon and carbon-nickel composite film in Y-Bend Filtered Cathodic Vacuum Arc (FCVA), and characterization of carbon bonding structure for both as-deposited and laser annealed films through Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In this project, effect of annealing energy and time on revolution of carbon sp2 bonding were closely monitored through its Raman spectrum. Spectrum information such as D peak, G peak, and I(D)/I(G) ratio were extracted to evaluate the sample film sp3/sp2 fraction and sp2 cluster size. The effect of metal Ni contains in composite film on revolution of carbon bonding is also studied.en_US
