Abstract: Face recognition receives a lot of attention from researchers because of its potential for applications. A branch of face recognition is family classification. Family classification gives computers the ability to identify people belonging to the same family group. The usefulness of family classification systems are large. It can be used to find long lost family members or relatives from photographs sharing websites such as Flickr and Facebook. Family classification can also be deployed in to surveillance camera to locate missing children in crowded places like shopping centers and amusement parks. Other applications are but not limited to tracking criminal suspects, tracing inherited medical condition and locating abducted children.
