Title: | Analysis of tennis games | Authors: | Ortiz, Raphael. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Electronic systems::Signal processing | Issue Date: | 2011 | Abstract: | Several methods for tennis ball and players tracking have been proposed. Nonetheless the majority is based on high resolution videos and even multiple cameras. The final targeted application treated here is the automatic analysis of the behaviour of the players during a tennis match based on a homemade video which would constitute an easily portable analysis device. In this report a method based on multiple background subtractions and frame differentiation is proposed to track the ball and players in a video. The proposed algorithm includes the camera motion compensation as well as an alternative method based on edge detection to improve the accuracy of the tracking. Candidates for the trajectories are first extracted and subsequently filtered by successive interpolations alternated with a candidate selection step. The results are promising and the algorithm appears to be robust enough to give good results on various videos without any specific modifications. We are confident that the flexibility of a homemade video will allow further optimizations and that real-world applications are possible. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/45783 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
