Issue Date: 2011
Abstract: Marine pipelines are used to transport fluids over a great distance. These substances include crude oil and fuel products. Over the years, many pipelines had been damaged due to pipe deformation. In some serious case, pipes failure may even cause severe water pollution. The phenomenon of anchor drag along a pipeline will be investigated in this project through a force and structural stress analysis. Force analysis is done through the study of the fundamental of vibrations using mass-spring-damper system with a single degree of freedom. It is considered as an under-damped system. Forces obtained from this system are based on two different types of ship. Each of the ships has a variation of initial velocities.
