Jackknifing of articulated vehicles is a common and a very dangerous type of accident that results in many human casualties, injuries and property damage each year. PSA Singapore is one of the largest ports in the world and employees many articulated vehicles to transport cargo containers within the port. Jackknifing of articulated vehicles is a concern for PSA Singapore as it affects the company’s efficiency and safety. The following project is part of their effort to analyse the causes of articulated vehicle jackknifing and prevention of jackknifing accidents. This project discusses the causes of jackknifing based on the scenario of a PSA Singapore’s articulated vehicle manoeuvring a 90⁰ bend. For this project computer simulation software was used to simulate various test cases. A special software designed to simulate articulated vehicles known as TruckSim™ was used for all the simulations.en_US
