Abstract: Wireless local area network (WLAN) technology has seen phenomenal growth rate from the conception of IEEE802.illegacy in 1997. In 2003, sales of WLAN equipment market in Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) grew 67% year-on-year as reported by research firm IDC [3]. Complementing the WLAN development is the growth of the wireless hot spot industry that has been forecasted by Gartner Dataquest to generate over US$9 billion by 2007 [4].
