Abstract: This paper presents the concepts of using CADD technology in the preliminary design of concrete box girder bridges. The preliminary design procedure, which is traditionally a manual process based largely on the experience of a bridge engineer, is effectively programmed and executed by a computer package developed in this study. The computer package consists of modules coded in FORTRAN 77 and a graphics language, and is implemented on a Prime 7S0 computer.
