Abstract: Based on established strength formulae for Y tubular joints found in the API1 and DNV codes an equivalent formula has been proposed to predict the ultimate strength of padeye on tubular member. This is used to predict the ultimate strength of 12 test specimens which were tested experimentally to near failure or failure load.
