Abstract: An interface system comprising an adapter board and the data link driver software has been designed and developed to implement high-speed desktop networking using optical fiber as the transmission medium. The driver program has been developed to operate at the data link layer with the Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) Personal Computer (PC) adapter. The PC adapter implements the hardware conforming to the FDDI Single Attachment Station (SAS) configuration.
