Abstract: The applications of acoustic emission to the monitoring of fatigue crack propagation in mild steel thin plate weldments, mild steel tubular T-joints weldments and reinforced concrete beams have been investigated in the laboratory. The study of the characteristics of the acoustic emissions in relation to the mechanisms of failure, the crack growth rate, the location of the crack growth and propagation is presented.
