Abstract: Previous experimental studies had shown that the development of flow behind the trailing edge of a Iobed forced mixer was greatly influenced by the formation of the large-scale streamwise vortices. The main objective of the present study was to establish quantitatively the presence and role of the streamwise vortices to -the mixing layer properties in the near field of a lobed forced mixer trailing edge. The near field was defined at the region within five wavelengths (of the trailing edge profile) from the trailing edge. A two-stream mixing layer with different velocity ratios (from 1.0 to 0.6) were generated with initial turbulent boundary layers and nominally two dimensional.
