Abstract: This report presents the final development of an electro-chemical grinding robot. It is a 5- degree-of-freedom system , capable of grinding free-form surfaces of ferrous material.Experimetal results were obtained for mild steel flat surfaces. By varying feedrates and spindle speeds, the prototype is capable of producing an approximate roughness (Ra) of about 2fim. Errors such as from vibration and linear translaters were accounted for. Optimisation of tool-paths in terms of software for 3D free-form polishing has been proposed.
