dc.description.abstractThis project brings together several disciplines which are developing rapidly. It is concerned with the integration of techniques for computer aided design as applied to three dimensional "sculptured" surfaces, numerically controlled manufacture, and turbomachine aerodynamics as applied to fan performance, including noise generation. Within its area of application the resulting combined package now represents a capability which is believed to be amongst the most powerful to be found in an academic organisation.en_US
