Abstract: A brief survey of the market demand for low cost robots was performed, to identify the optimum parameters such as the operational speed, maximum load, environment condition, etc. The result was used to draw up a specification, and a robot was designed and constructed accordingly. Calibration results showed that the robot performance was very favourable, and well within the specification. Two experiments are included in this report to demonstrate the usefulness of the robot. The robot could be manufactured commerically for less than $2000.
