Title: | Investigation of surface properties of polymer nanocomposites | Authors: | Loo, Leslie Sun Sun. Wang, Kean. |
Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Chemical engineering::Polymers and polymer manufacture | Issue Date: | 2009 | Abstract: | In this report, the surface properties of polymer nanocomposites were investigated and optimized. The abrasive wear mechanism in polymer/layered silicate nanocomposites was determined. It was found that the poor abrasion resistance is attributed to defects at the clay-polymer interface, resulting in greater wear of the polymer matrix. The abrasion resistance of the nanocomposites could be enhanced by surface treatment with oxygen plasma for short durations. | Description: | 180 p. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/46704 | Schools: | School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
