dc.description.abstractCompartmental syndrome is a condition occurring mainly in the limbs, in which the compartmental pressure is high for a prolonged period of time. If not treated, amputation of the affected limb might be necessary and in some cases, death might even result. The diagnostic test for compartmental syndrome is tissue pressure measurement. Several methods of tissue pressure measurement are available. However, the disadvantages of these methods include requirement of a surgical implantation, difficulty in obtaining a steady-state reading, bulky equipment, etc. Hence, the objective of this project is to implement a FBG-based compartmental pressure monitoring system that has short setup time, able to display the absolute compartmental pressure instantly, user-friendly and portable.en_US
