Abstract: With the ever increasing demand for digital security for media over internet, we have made an attempt to contribute to the cause by proposing a novel algorithm for tamper detection and restoration of digital images. Watermarks are used in this algorithm to detect tampering of an image. Using the concept of Spread Spectrum Image Steganography (SSIS), the watermark is enabled to carry enough information about the original image, which is used to restore the tampered parts of the image.
