Abstract: This dissertation presents an advanced control methodology by optimizing the components of the vapour compression refrigeration cycle. The steady state mathematical models are proposed for mass flow rate, heat transfer, power consumption and other parameters associated with the vapour compression cycle for different cooling loads. The components of the vapour compression cycle are modelled by using manufacturers' catalogue and data from a simulated refrigeration cycle. Later, particle swarm optimization algorithm and genetic algorithm together form a hybrid structure and is adapted to get steady state energy optimization of vapour compression cycle.
