Abstract: The objective of this project is to use spread spectrum technique to embed a digital watermark into an audio signal. The technique aims to make the watermark resistant to different removal attempts while retaining the signal's perceptual quality. The recovery of the watermark is performed without original audio signal hence it is a blind approach. A software system is implemented and tested for perceptual transparency and data-recovery performance. The whole system can be divided into two basic modules: masking estimate based on psychoacoustic model and watermark generation and embedding based on spread spectrum technique.
