Abstract: Single-variable Proportional, Integral and Denvauve (PID) controllers are by far the most popular controllers. Multivariate controllers are used when the control system is required to achieve multiple objectives using mulaple actuators. Moving each of the actuators affects all of the process vanables simultaneously. Multivariable control systems are based on linear, model-predictive control. Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC) is one of the model predictive controllers, which is extensively used in various chemical and petroleum processes.
