Abstract: In the recent past, computer-supported communication was largely limited to exchange of data between two hosts. This included using FTP for file transfers, SMTP for e-mails and HTTP web browsing. However today, there is an increase in the communication of groups of computers interacting with each other. It may be from one to many or even many to many. This called for a new type of communication called multicasting.
