Abstract: Partial discharge (PD) measurement on electrical equipment can be traced back to the beginning of the twentieth century. It is an effective tool to evaluate the quality and condition of the electrical insulation. The widespread application of PD tests, both as a quality control tool and a maintenance planning tool requires the understanding of what the PD test is measuring, and the significance of the measured signals.
