Abstract: Microbial infection is a major threat to biomedical implants and restricts their prolonged applications. Many strategies have been explored to prevent microbial colonization and these include antimicrobial peptides, antibiotics release from biomaterials, anti-adherent coatings, etc. However, most of these are not cost-effective and hence the search for suitable and cost-effective antimicrobial treatment still remains an active field of research.
