Title: Design of data acquisition and control system application for monitoring and controlling medical devices
Authors: Sutono Gunawan
Keywords: DRNTU::Engineering
Issue Date: 2006
Abstract: Remote patient monitoring is made possible with current communication technologies and computers. However, most of the current Patient Monitoring System (PMS) applications only support medical devices from the same manufacturer due to the lack of standards, hardware and software. Furthermore, the current PMS applications are for monitoring purpose only. This becomes a major problem for hospitals, doctors and nurses as they need to use several systems or have to depend on one manufacturer for their medical devices. Hence, to solve this problem, new software is developed independent of the manufacturer of the medical equipment.
