Title: | Inventory and demand in vertical transportation industry | Authors: | Aziz Laila Juby | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Mechanical engineering | Issue Date: | 2005 | Abstract: | This dissertation deals with the demand forecasting and inventory analysis of a vertical transportation industry in Asia Pacific region. The main aim is to analyse the demand of elevators in the vertical transportation industry and optimise inventory level to meet the demand of parts for manufacturing elevators. Time series forecasting methods are considered for demand forecasting. Historical demand is analysed using moving average, simple exponential smoothing, Holt's method and Winter's method. Holt's method results in minimum forecasting errors. As a result Holt's method is selected for predicting future demand. | Description: | 87 p. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/47131 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
