Study of vibration transmission in hard disk drive for ultra high track density

The continuing increase of recording density of magnetic hard disk drives (HDDs) requires a higher positioning accuracy within a narrower track width, making vibration control one more critical issue in HDD industry. A good knowledge of the vibration transmission characteristics within HDD may help the vibration reduction a lot. The objective of this study is to study the vibratory energy transmission within complex structures such as HDD using structural intensity.
