Title: Analysis of topical antimicrobial and antiseptic solution against staphylococcus aureus

Abstract: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common human pathogen which can cause skin infection. Staphylococcus aureus has developed resistance to more and more currently used drugs over the time that it poses serious threat to the health of the community. This study aims to find an alternative natural drugs which can inhibit the virulence of Staphylococcus aureus. The effect of honey and Dettol was tested in this study. Checkerboard method was used to determine the effect of honey and the results were confirmed by time-killing curves to know the dynamic action of honey over Staphylococcus aureus. The effect of Dettol was tested by using only timekilling curves because of fast onset of Dettol action. This study is intended to show the effect of honey as an alternative medication and also the effect of Dettol over bacterial skin infection. Investigation results reveal that both honey and Dettol are effective against both methicillin resistant and sensitive Staphylococcus aureus.
