Title: Vibration characteristics of read and write head of hard disk drive

Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: Despite the fast development of Solid State Drive (SSD), Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is still the dominant data storage media owing to its high data capacity, relatively smaller feature size and faster data output rate at low cost. Further, there is still a promise to increase the capacity of data per unit disk area for the HDD. To achieve this promise, it is necessary to achieve a better motion control of read/write head through active or passive techniques. The motion control could be improved by better understanding of the vibration motion of read/write head. Meanwhile, the response performance of read/write head under shock impact is also critical to improve HDD's shock robustness and prevent disk damage that may lead to elimination of stored data.
