Title: | Oxygen transport and cell distribution of smooth muscle construct cultured under flow | Authors: | Chan, Wing Yue | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Bioengineering | Issue Date: | 2010 | Source: | Chan, W. Y. (2010). Oxygen transport and cell distribution of smooth muscle construct cultured under flow. Doctoral thesis, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. | Abstract: | Internal oxygen transport is important in the development of tissue construct in vitro. A new bioreactor culture system and a mathematical model were established to investigate oxygen transport in relation to cell distribution of esophageal smooth muscle tissue construct cultured under medium flow. The bioreactor system was designed to enable in-situ oxygen profiling in the flow bioreactors to capture real-time spatial oxygen data in the growing construct; the mathematical model assuming oxygen-dependent growth kinetics was formulated using Volume Averaging Method (VAM) for the transport phenomena in the multiphasic tissue construct. | Description: | 311 p. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/47201 | DOI: | 10.32657/10356/47201 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | open | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
