Abstract: In recent years, a variety of product data management (PDM) systems have been developed to integrate and manage all the information that defines a product from design to manufacture, and to end-user support. As 70-80% of the product costs is committed during the design stage, it is worthwhile to develop a cost estimation method for a PDM system to facilitate the efficiency and effectiveness of product design in a new product development process.
