|Title:||Tackling terror in Bangladesh : evolving a comprehensive strategy||Authors:||Muhamad Shafqat Munir||Keywords:||DRNTU::Social sciences::Sociology::Terrorism||Issue Date:||2009||Abstract:||Bangladesh faces many developmental and security challenges ranging from rising sea levels to high population and poverty. While the developmental and governance challenges are acute, over the years Bangladesh has started to face a critical security challenge from Terrorism and violent extremism. The challenge has been further compounded over the years due to a number of different factors. The question that has often been asked is why Bangladesh which is generally regarded as a peaceful country has fallen prey to the spectre of terrorism? While thinking of counter measures, it is often being pondered whether Bangladesh needs to rely more on the operational approach or the strategic one or whether the approach needs to be a combination of both. These questions become more prominent as South Asia fast becomes the centre of gravity of transnational terrorism.||Description:||49 p.||URI:||http://hdl.handle.net/10356/47398||Rights:||Nanyang Technological University||Fulltext Permission:||restricted||Fulltext Availability:||With Fulltext|
