Abstract: For her destabilising effect from encouraging nuclear arms proliferation, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) or North Korea is unique. While there are both hawkish and dovish scholarly works addressing Pyongyang's nuclear weapons programme, analysis concerning the mindsets, psychological paradigms and survival motivations of President Kim II Sung and his successor, Chairman Kim Jong II appears to be lacking.
