Abstract: New Media and its adoption by the masses has allowed for the creation of various virtual communities. More than that, it has also allowed these "Netizens" to initiate social action and extend their virtual communities to real life. This is especially so for the case of the Internet as a channel of communication. The Internet has over 1.6 billion Internet users worldwide today, and it is increasingly used as a powerful political instrument to forward the goals of various groups and individuals.
