|Issue Date:||2012||Abstract:||The rise of China's prominence in the world economy begs the question of where its currency, the Renminbi, is headed in the coming years. Some critics believe that the Renminbi is geared to become the next major international currency in the world, challenging the incumbent US dollar. In this paper, the Renminbi's potential to fulfil the role of an international currency is explored with the establishment of an understanding of currency internationalization.||URI:||http://hdl.handle.net/10356/48266||Rights:||Nanyang Technological University||Fulltext Permission:||restricted||Fulltext Availability:||With Fulltext|
