Title: | The hidden curriculum in Singapore schools and its impact on the environment. | Authors: | Zheng, Marie Meiting. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Social sciences | Issue Date: | 2012 | Abstract: | This study examines the effects of Singapore education, particularly on the mindset and behaviors of students towards the environment. The “Hidden Curriculum” which is the main concept in this study is used in tandem with various other theories and concepts such as the “Treadmill of Production” to explain how Singapore schools end up producing individuals who treat the environment in a formally rational way. Through 20 interviews with final-year undergraduates who have been educated in the Singapore education system, reasons behind their actions and attitudes towards the environment are further explored and explained. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/48269 | Schools: | School of Humanities and Social Sciences | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
