Title: | Universal balance. | Authors: | Wang, Roy Han Yi. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Visual arts | Issue Date: | 2012 | Abstract: | Through globalization, external influences increasingly affect our ways of seeing, therefore raising the relevancy of the search and understanding of one’s self identity. Figuratively, as the external world becomes smaller and in this state of flux, is there a need to expand the inner world by maintaining a stronger individualism in both society and self to achieve balance? Influenced by my Chinese heritage, this work questions and explores the place and possibilities of infusing Daoist aesthetic values of naturalism and law, contributing towards a Chinese ideal of Universal Balance(tian xia), in tandem yet building upon modern aesthetic viewpoints. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/48765 | Schools: | School of Art, Design and Media | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
