Abstract: Cloud Computing provides users with numerous advantages over the traditional in-house computing service: computational power, cost saving, ease of use … But companies are still unwilling to use cloud computing for their daily business. It is mainly due to data privacy concern. Users fear that their sensitive data may be exposed when stored on the cloud server, where they have no control over. One of the current flourishing cloud products is online storage service. Users can stored their data online and access from their laptop, mobile phone, tablet … whenever and wherever they want. But the current implementation of online storage service, user has no way to protect their data privacy from the cloud server. Our software solution aims to provide users a way to store their data online securely and at the same time can share data with other users safely. Our online storage backup software is prototype software that provides users with functionalities similar to an FTP server with multiple layers of security on top of it. Using standard security measures ranging from authentication, data encryption at rest using AES, easy key management mechanism … users can ensure that their data is encrypted before it reaches the cloud servers. Hence the server has no way of peeking into users’ data and data privacy is protected. Online collaboration is also conducted in a secure manner with the objective of protecting the group’s data from both the cloud server and other groups.
