Abstract: Despite much advancement in software engineering research, there are still much major problems in software development and maintenance. A major barrier in the construction and maintenance of software systems is the structural mismatch between the user requirement and software artifacts. User requirements are expressed in terms of classes, methods, procedures etc. As a result, software artifacts for implementing a functionality cannot be separately and independently represented such that software artifacts for implementing required functionalities can be composed together to form a software system. The problem seriously prevents the reuse of these software artifacts. The DF net, which is proposed by Tan [24, 25], is to address such problem.
