Title: Experimental investigation on composite slabs - punching, flexural and vertical shear failure
Authors: Lee, Cailin.

Issue Date: 2012
Abstract: This Final Year Project report covers the research and work done by the author on composite slabs. From 2010, Singapore made a move from British Standards to Eurocodes on the design of structural members. Composite structure is one of them. The purpose of this project is to compare the use of Eurocode to British Standards on the design of composite slabs and to determine the criticality of punching shear, flexural failure and vertical shear to longitudinal shear. The key factor in the design of composite slab structure is the bonding between the profile steel decking and the concrete. The bonding has to be strong to ensure that the structure acts in a single unit and not as separate elements. In this report, the focus is to determine the more critical failure mode between punching shear, vertical shear and flexural failure.
