Abstract: Among many broadband access systems currently available, systems based on xDSL technology are deemed the most versatile and cost-effective for providing interactive, multimedia services. In this thesis, we review the state-of-art technology of xDSL and briefly compare with other access systems. ADSL is one of the products in the xDSL product line and is adopted by many telecommunication companies for implementation in their access network. The objective of the research work is to analyze the coding schemes and propose certain modification, in order to improve the ADSL system performance.
