Innovative maritime logistics in achieving higher integration and efficiency

Abstract

With shippers’ increasing demand for integrated logistics solutions, the shipping industry starts to look into maritime transport from an integrated supply chain’s perspective and thus the concept of maritime logistics comes into play. The paper aims to find innovative ways to improve integration and efficiency in maritime logistics. As a start, extensive literature review and preliminary interviews with both industrial practitioners and academics are conducted to investigate some key issues and challenges in the maritime logistics.
